I have been using vari-pitch bands for the last three years after exausting all avenues of trying to get rid of washboarding we started with a three tooth segment and progrest from there using a standard cam/armstr/num4 sharpener -1999\2000 upgraded our h/rig from lever strain to air strain standard pitch saws still washboard. We now use 5 seg vari-pitch on the same num/4 armstrg with total success we have now upgraded the rest of our mill 2001\2002 including a cnc band-circle sharpener and will eventually end up with vari/pitch-depth saws segments are 57-54-50.8-50.8-48 hope this helps you ps I wouldn't go back to standard pitch with todays high demand for production its not worth the grief go vari-pitch.
