Cracking of Carbide Tips

I have a situation where the carbide is cracking (not chipping) parallel to, and close to, the brazing. The application is a facing saw on a slabber, so the teeth get a fair impact. We are trying a softer grade of carbide to get around the problem.

Does anyone know what the cause of this problem might be?
