I can understand the frustration you must be experiencing. I don't know if I can help, but I am willing to give it my best shot. However, I need more information in order to better understand the situation. First off, if there is an issue on the bandmill, it will do the same thing to every blade. Do the cracks appear identical in every blade? I am assuming that we are talking about gullet cracks, is that correct? If the cracks are NOT relatively identical in size, location and shape, then I would focus my attention on the grinding process. I subscribe to a school of logic that suggests over 98% of all cracks result from the resharpening process. I recommend that you do two things:(1)Make a light roll right on the bottom of the gullets to move the tension away from the edge of the saw (2)pay close attention to the grinding process. If you see ANY discoloration of the steel during the sharpening process, use a veneer caliper and measure the saw width at the butt weld(write it down). Now grind lightly until the saw is sharp making certain NO discoloration is present. When you complete the grinding process, measure the saw width at the same tooth. The blade needs to be at least 0.012" less than the first meaasurement. This excercise will accomplish two things. (1) move the tension away from the edge of the saw. Try a 1" tire line instead of a 1/2" tire (2)reduce the possibility of untempered martinsite in the gullets. Feel free to contact me at bntn6@netalpha.net, if I knew more about your situation, I would be better able to discuss this with you. Best wishes, and may God guide your thoughts and your hands.
