We have had a problem with strings??? we call it excelsior. Rig is Denis Comact double arbour gang edger 400 hp/arbour.Feed speed is 390 FPM.Material is black spruce and jackpine. Seems to be coming from the top arbour. Saws are 22" Dia. 80T, .172K. Carbides. I have experimented with ATB on the top saws with not much luck. It seems to happen more on fresh wood. Some of these strings are 8-10' long and cause grief at our sawdust screen. i have not yet experimented with rake angle but have my suspicions. Any ideas?
