Hi,
One cause of center cracks is too much heat from the guides if the lubrication system has a problem or there is too much guide pressure. Basically, the inside of the band gets hot, and the steel gets a little bit brittle. In this situation, the cracks start on the inside of the blade. On the other hand, gullet cracks usually start on the outside of the blade because of the tensile stress generated when bending over the wheels.
