We use Uddeholm steel and have been finding that it is seemingly inferior to what it used to be. On one 13 guage head saw I got body cracks on the very first run. The saw was put up correctly but the cracks appeared all over the body, not just in the quarters. They continued untill the saw had so many welds I had to cut it up. I am also experiencing gullet cracks that flake out to half the thickness of the plate in our 13 and 16 guage saws. We use a mig welder for repairs and have found that the plate is "dirty" as it bubbles when welded. I have tried different types of wire to no avail. In some cases the plate will just blow away when being welded. Any one else had these problem?
